Launched : Samsung Galaxy A8, Galaxy A8+ With Dual Selfie Cameras & Infinity Display

The launch of  Samsung Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ has been finally announced. They are quite similar to Samsung Galaxy S8 when it comes to user experience and design heritage. Besides dual selfie camera setups, both the smartphones come with IP68-certified water and dust resistance and infinity displays for taking on the competition. Both the smartphones will be up for sale in January 2018, however Samsung has not disclosed it’s official price yet.

First Galaxy A series smartphones supporting Samsung Gear VR headset

The highlight is – both are the very first A series Samsung Galaxy smartphone which support the Samsung’s Gear VR headset. The smartphones feature Samsung Pay integration and IP68-certified build. There will be four colour variants for both the phones – blue, black, orchid grey and gold – aiming young customers and millennials.



The Galaxy A8 sports a full-HD+ 5.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2220×1080 pixels resolution having an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, whereas the Galaxy A8+ features a FHD+ 6-inch Super AMOLED screen. At the top, the infinity displays are protected by a curved glass.

Processor, RAM & Storage

Both the phones run Android 7.1.1 Nougat and encase a powerful octa core processor having 2 cores upto 2.2GHz clock speed and 6 cores upto 1.6GHz clock speed.

The Galaxy A8 comes with 4GB RAM, while the Galaxy A8+ will be available in two RAM variants – 4GB and 6GB.

The smartphones have two onboard storage options – 32GB and 64GB, that can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.


Both the smartphones come with two camera sensors at the front for persuading the selfie-loving youth. The smartphones have a 16MP fixed focus sensor with an aperture of f/1.9 and an 8MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.9. The sensors give the options of either obtaining sharp background along with a focused foreground, or a blurred background for creating that ‘bokeh’ effect with the selfies.

There is also a Live Focus option which comes pre-installed for adjusting the ‘bokeh’ effect, after users capture self-portraits. The smartphones are equipped with a 16MP camera sensor at the back coupled with a f/1.7 lens, which comes with VDIS technology, besides the dual camera setup.


The smartphones come with 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Type-C USB port and NFC on the connectivity front.


The Galaxy A8 has a battery of 3000mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy A8+ packs a battery of 3500mAh.
