Launched : OnePlus 5T with 8GB of RAM & 6-Inch 18:9 Display

OnePlus 5T has been launched officially with a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160px) display and 18:9 aspect ratio along with bezel-less design. The phone will be available only in a Midnight Black colour variant. The camera has also been improved as compared to it’s predecessor OnePlus 5’s. However, the launch price of OnePlus 5T is the same as it’s predecessor.

Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO commented on the OnePlus 5T launch that though the feedback of OnePlus 5 has been quite positive, some areas still had room for improvement for providing better user experience.

OnePlus 5T launch offers & price

The 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant of OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs. 32,999 whereas the price of 8GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage variant is Rs. 37,999. It will be an Amazon exclusive but will also be available in the online stores of OnePlus. The smartphone will be up for sale on November 21 exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Open sales of the smartphone will start on November 28. Customers can also register themselves for the early access sale on simultaneously.

The launch offers include a complimentary 12-month accidental damage insurance by Servify for all OnePlus 5T users. In order to avail this offer, users will have to download an app called Kotak 811 app where an initial deposit of Rs 1,000 has to be made by activating a savings account in the introductory period. There will also be 1008GB of data from Idea for all OnePlus 5T customers.

Customers making purchase with HDFC Bank credit and debit cards will also get an instant discount of Rs. 1,500 on Amazon website until December 2.

OnePlus 5T specifications & features

The dual-SIM (Nano) OnePlus 5T runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.7. A new feature has been added – Face Unlock – that can “securely unlock” the smartphone in just 0.4 seconds with the help of advanced facial identification algorithms. For functioning of the Face Unlock, the display must be on. However this feature can not be used for authentication purpose in sensitive apps, such as payment apps.

Now users can easily take a selfie by long-pressing the fingerprint sensor and bring up the notification shade by swiping the fingerprint sensor. Some other OxygenOS features that have been inherited from the OnePlus 5’s latest stable builds include the Gallery Maps, Parallel Apps and Reading Mode.


The OnePlus 5T sports a 6.01-inch full-HD+ Full Optic AMOLED with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection having an aspect ratio of 18:9 with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 401ppi. The display can also support DCI-P3 and sRGB colour gamuts.

Processor & RAM

The OnePlus 5T encases a powerful octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC, up to 2.45GHz clock speed just like OnePlus 5, coupled with 6GB/ 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.


Coming to the cameras – OnePlus has updated the smartphone’s dual rear camera setup from that of the OnePlus 5’s. The primary camera has a 16MP Sony IMX398 sensor with 1.12-micron pixels. It comes with an upgraded focal length of 27.22mm and an aperture of f/1.7, accompanied by dual-LED flash, and supports 4K video recording at 30fps, besides 1080p video at 60fps.

The secondary camera has a 20MP Sony IMX376K sensor with a 1-micron pixels. Also it’s focal length has been upgraded to 27.22mm and aperture to f/1.7.

The camera UI on the OnePlus 5T has also been redesigned which, along with new swipe gestures, makes it easier to access all the features with one hand.


Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0 with aptX and aptX HD, dual-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO 2×2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C (v2.0) port and 3.5mm audio jack.


The smartphone is powered by a 3300mAh non-removable battery along with OnePlus’s Dash Charge (5V, 4A) fast charging technology. The smartphone measures 156.1x75x7.3mm and weighs 162 grams, making the OnePlus 5T wider, thicker and longer than its predecessor.

All other specifications of OnePlus 5T remains identical to it’s predecessor OnePlus 5.
