Bookings for India ka Smartphone, Reliance Jio Phone will begin today

The wait is finally over! Bookings for the much awaited JioPhone will start from today, i.e, 24th August 2017, Thursday, both online & offline. More than 20 million units are expected to be booked today. However, Reliance has decided to deliver the 4G feature phone to it’s customers on first-come first-serve basis from September.

The handset is “essentially free”

The very first Jio-branded phone is going to come preloaded with popular apps such as JioTV, JioMusic and JioCinema, along with some popular social networking and instant messaging apps. The handset is “essentially free” mainly for those 2G feature phone users who have not joined the company’s network yet, though security deposit of Rs. 1,500 has to be paid initially which is refundable afterwards. You can opt either for offline or online channels for booking your Jio Phone.

When will JioPhone bookings start?

JioPhone bookings will start from 5:30 pm today via the official website, MyJio app and authorised Reliance Jio offline retailers.

How to book your Jio Phone?

For booking your JioPhone through the MyJio app, click on the “Prebook Now” option after opening the app. Then enter the pincode of your area and your contact number and tap on Proceed. After that you will receive an SMS as well as a booking ID on the app, which you need to show before the designated retailer while picking your JioPhone. In case you want to book a handset for a family member or a friend, just enter their respective contact number along with the delivery pincode and complete the payment process. The SMS will be sent to yours and your friend’s contact number in this case, along with the retailer’s address and booking ID.

Jio Phone delivery date and price

As we have already mentioned earlier, the JioPhone is free but you have to make a security deposit of Rs. 1,500 which is refundable afterwards, for avoiding potential misuse. The payment is expected to be made in two parts – Rs. 500 needs to be paid while booking the phone, while Rs. 1,000 is to be paid at the time of picking up the handset.

Reliance Jio is following the first-come, first-serve rule when it comes to delivery of the JioPhone. So make sure to be ready with all your details when and book your device as early as possible when the pre-bookings open.
