Best Selling Smartphone in 2017 in India : Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 came up to be the best selling smartphone for the calendar year 2017 in India. This budget smartphone from Xiaomi sold the maximum number of units in 2017 in the smartphone segment, a recent report suggested. Three spots on the list were for Xiaomi, four spots for Samsung, two spots for Vivo followed by Oppo which got one position.

Also, “India ka Smartphone” – the Jio Phone was ranked as the best selling feature phone of Q4 2017, as suggested by the report.

Going by the rankings, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 was on the second position, Samsung Galaxy J2 was on the third position, Oppo A37 was on the fourth position, Xiaomi Redmi 4A was on the fifth position, Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt was on the sixth position, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime was on the seventh position, Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) was on the eighth position, Vivo Y55L was on the ninth position followed by Vivo Y53 on the tenth position on the report.

Other revelations in the Indian smartphone industry has also been revealed by the report, claiming that Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung to become the best seller of smartphones in India when it comes to the percentage of total shipments in Q4 of the year 2017. Xiaomi has beaten Samsung with 25% of the shipment market share, while the latter stood at 23% in the same quarter. Although Samsung still topped the chart for calendar year 2017 with a share of 24% as compared to 19% market share of Xiaomi.

Surprisingly, Reliance Jio entered the feature phone segment with a market share of 26%. With 15% of the total market share, Samsung ranked second. However, Samsung managed to claim the top spot for feature phone shipments in CY 2017 with a market share of 21 percent, despite the success of Jio Phone. Itel was at the second position with 12% followed by Jio at third with 11%.
